Welcome to another gorgeous day in North Carolina. We stopped by at the local Walmart store to pickup beach chairs, an umbrella that drills into the sand and a lounger to suntan and read books. We found a place to park for free and headed to the beach
It was very windy, and the waves were big! It was a balmy 33 degrees outside, but the water was unbearably cold. I waded in, until my body was numb…and then it didn’t matter how long I stayed in. Not nearly as long as a couple next to us or the teenage paddle boarder though. They were in for a very long time. The walk on the beach was very nice and we collected some amazing shells.
Next, we drove to Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and The Town of Duck. All these tiny islands are connected by long bridges over shallow oceans. Corolla is another lovely town which is known for its beaches. We could probably ocean kayak over to these islands from our campground in Coinjock as they lie just across the lagoon.
During the drive we saw some interesting sights including an open truck with Mexican Farmers picked up on the roadside seated on the cab with no seat belts, a signpost for the first school in North Carolina (There was no school though) and a moving farm equipment that we had to pass. Overtaking a large vehicle while in a fifth wheel can be scary!
Today, I will show you a peak inside our luxury Fifth Wheel! It has 3 pullouts. One side has the fireplace (The TV comes up from behind the fireplace), the kitchen stove, oven, and fridge. The other side has the dining table with 4 chairs and 2 heated massage reclining sofas with cup holders and side tables. The other pull out is our bedroom upstairs (2 steps, LOL) with a short king bed. Fixed on either side of the coach is a queen size sofa bed at the back and a walk-in closet plus another closet (hard wired for a washer/dryer) on the front end. In the middle between the kitchen and bedroom is the 3-piece washroom with a 48-foot walk in glass shower. Backing it is a full pantry and no shortage of storage space. Below the belly is the basement which can store all your suitcases, beach chairs, BBQ, tents, boxes of sewer and water lines even a small kayak! The electrical line is on a automatic reel which is a huge help as the 50amp gauge line is very heavy. The newer RVs have auto-leveling systems and memory for your last unhitching height so it is easy to bring it back to the level when you are ready to hitch. A few comforts of our 310GK is shoe storage below the steps to the bedroom, a toe-kick and central vacuum cleaner, and a convection microwave! Other than the kitchen island that fell apart! it is quite a practical, long-haul, well insulated unit. We had lived in it full-time while our home was under renovations during COVID from June to mid November quite comfortably!
