Day 2 – May 15th 2022. Somerset, Pennsylvania Kooser State Park

THE PHYSICAL HIGHLIGHTS

THE BLOOD MOON

When we set out from our cottage in Lake Erie, Ontario the automatic air compressor blew out the tube of my tires. We took it anyways, and luckily we saw a Bike, Board and Skis repair shop on the way to Lowes. Craig the nice man at the shop took my bike has part timers coming during their breaks from their regular jobs fix bikes. By lunch time I had a new tube, a new chain, sprockets, gears all tuned up for $100 US.

We did a nice bike trail around the campgrounds then a hike around the 4 Acre Kooser Lake created in the 1930s by the Civilians Conservation Corps.

It was a clear night for viewing the Total Eclipse of the moon tonight. We got wood, gathered some unspent wood from vacant campsites and settled down to a lovely fire. It was still plus 19 and bright moonlit night.

There was only one other camper with overnight visitors other than the host trailer. We danced to the nineties on nine XM radio station from my phone to the Beauty’s 2 Outdoor Bluetooth speakers!

We saw Rahu – the dark moon of Sanskrit lore – cover the moon one bite at a time. I took pictures on my monocular using an iPhone. The whole phenomenon lasted a little over an hour culminating in a full blood moon a little after midnight.

The Book

Excerpt from Born in Crime by Trevor Noah

TEACHING A MAN TO FISH

Life was good, and none of it would have happened without Andrew. Without him, I would never have mastered the world of music piracy and lived a life of endless McDonald’s. What he did, on a small scale, showed me how important it is to empower the dispossessed and the disenfranchised in the wake of oppression. Andrew was white. His family had access to education, resources, computers. For generations while his people were preparing to go to university, my people were crowded into thatched huts singing, “Two times two is four. Three times three is two is six. La la la la la.” My family had been denied the things his family had taken for granted. I had a natural talent for selling to people, but without knowledge and resources, where was that was going to get me? People always lecture the poor: “Take responsibility for yourself! Make something of yourself!” But with what raw materials are the poor to make something of themselves?

People love to say, “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.” What they don’t say is, “And it would be nice if you gave him a fishing rod.” That’s the part of the analogy that is missing. Working with Andrew was the fist time in my life I realized you need someone from the privileged world to come to you and say, “Okay, here’s what you need, and here’s how it works.” Talent alone would have gotten me nowhere without Andrew giving me the CD writer. People say, “Oh, that’s a handout.” No. I still have to work to profit by it. But I don’t stand a chance without it.

The Giving

In 1985 a group of women in Vancouver came together to support the work of Aga Khan Foundation Canada. All had come from Africa or Asia and wanted to give back to the communities they left behind. They persuaded 1000 other Canadians to join them in a walk to fight global poverty and raised $55,000. That first walk grew into an annual event, held in 10 cities across Canada. Thirty Five years later, The World Partnership Walk had raised more than $125 million – making it the largest event in Canada in support of international development.

Today we at Make Way For Wealth Inc did a corporate sponsorship and donated towards their 2022 campaign that culminates in a walk June 13th in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Kitchner-Waterloo, London, Montreal, Ottawa, Regina or Victoria! Please click on this link to donate any amount you want for our team.

Your donation helps Aga Khan Foundation Canada make a difference in millions of lives across the developing world.

Delivering literacy classes for women in Afghanistan, improving curriculum for girls and boys in East Africa, and creating new livelihoods opportunities in Pakistan and Mozambique – these are just a few of the ways in which your funds are helping families and communities become stronger, healthier and more self-sufficient.

Please help. Thank you

Mobile Traveling Mortgage Broker Update

Happy Client

We have been working with a self-employed client buying a $1,850,000 home. He and his wife own their own consulting company opening offices for large multinational companies worldwide. COVID19 halted most of their business during 2020-2021, however, we advised them to keep their dividend income consistent and were able to get them a commitment from a major bank for a $1,360,000 mortgage plus line of credit. The HELOC from Manulife ONE every dollar paid as principal is available to withdraw in a separate account. This is ideal for a self employed borrower as he can write off the interest if he uses this account for his business.

We were also able arrange bridge financing. A bridge finance provides them the down payment they need until their home closing is completed.

If you had a challenging time in your business during COVID19 call me to discuss your situation before you purchase a primary or rental investment home. I can help you live your dream!
